Branson attributes his success in small part to his dyslexia a learning disorder affecting reading and writing comprehension [Richard Branson] In some ways I think that dyslexia is helpful in getting our messages across to people. It turns out he's not alone in a new survey out of London one in three US entrepreneur is identifies himself as dyslexic if you have dyslexic you’ve got your own ways of doing things you don't like a very structured environment. Famous dyslexics said they learned to compensate for the learning problems by developing other skills like oral communication and delegating responsibility and problem solving. Dyslexics are not dumb or lazy. They have an average IQ two or even above average IQ of their regular person the only problem they have is with reading. Dyslexia can result in confusing words and understanding this sentence for example Ann must drink milk was written like this by an eight-year-old dyslexic student. Daniel Kessler runs a small business teaching self defense courses he says after flailing in school he was more determined than ever to succeed [Daniel Kessler ] they give you an “A” for memorizing spelling words and they give you an “A” for writing an essay but they don't give you an “A” for being able to show leadership. Richard Branson A famous Dyslexic  talks about life at 30,000 feet and being Dyslexic – Richard Dropped out of school at age 15. His headmaster said that he would be a millionaire or go to prison. He chose to be a billionaire instead.

[Chris Anderson] You Must have been a genius from the get go right [Richard Branson] I wont contradict that.

[Chris Anderson] Okay this isn’t exactly hardball. Weren’t you just terrible at school? [Richard Branson] I was dyslexic I had no understanding of schoolwork whatsoever and I certainly would have failed IQ tests. Its one of the reasons I left school at fifteen years old. I'm not interested in something I just don’t   grasp it. As somebody who is dyslexic you also have some quite bizarre situation so for instance I’ve been running a large group of companies in Europe but haven’t been able to know the difference between net and gross so the board meetings have been fascinating so is that good news or bad news and generally people would say oh well that is bad news. [Chris Anderson] so the twenty five billion dollars is gross right? [Richard Branson] Well I hope its net actually. So when I turned fifty somebody me outside the boardroom and said look Richard let me draw a diagram here is a net in the sea and the fish have been pulled from the sea into this net and that’s the profits you got left over in this net. [Chris Anderson] But then of course as well as doing miserably academically but you were the captain of the cricket and football teams so you were a natural leader, where you a rebel? [Richard Branson]  Ya I think I was a bit of a maverick but I was fortunately good at sports so at least I had something to excel. I believe when you are bring up kids you should smother them with love and praise and enthusiasm. I don’t think you can mother cuddle your kids too much. [Chris Anderson] You dint turn out too bad I must say. Your headmaster said to you that you are going to be a millionaire or go to prison and I'm not sure which
